2015 Awards

Gold Stevie Winner for Best Annual Report - Print

Harlem RBI and DREAM Charter School's 2014 Annual Report 'A Year in the Life' received the Gold level American Business Award, the premier business awards program in the nation.

 

2014 Awards

The Steve Patterson Award for Excellence in Sports Philanthropy

The Patterson Award, which was established in 2005 by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in honor of the late Steve Patterson, the former UCLA basketball star, NBA player and Arizona State basketball coach. Patterson’s belief in the practice of using the power of sports philanthropy to make a difference in various communities inspired the creation of this award.

 

Nonprofit Times' Best Nonprofits to Work For 2014

Harlem RBI was named as one of the top 50 non-profit organizations to work for in the nation by The NonProfit Times. This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the nonprofit industry, benefiting the industry's economy, its workforce and businesses.

Nonprofit Times' Best Nonprofits to Work For 2013

Harlem RBI was named as one of the top 50 non-profit organizations to work for in the nation by The NonProfit Times. This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the nonprofit industry, benefiting the industry's economy, its workforce and businesses.

 

EmblemHealth Commitment to Care Award for Services to Our Youth

Harlem RBI was honored by EmblehmHealth at their "Commitment to Care — Lecture and Award Series." The Commitment to Care program was created by EmblemHealth to recognize New York City nonprofit organizations for their contributions to the communities they serve.

 

2012 Awards

Robin Hood Hero

The Robin Hood Hero’s Award is given annually to a few special New Yorkers who have overcome insurmountable obstacles and shown the resiliency of the human spirit. It is an opportunity to celebrate the programs supported by Robin Hood and the people they assist.

 

DREAM Charter School gets an “A” from the New York City Department of Education

 

 

New York Community Trust – New York Magazine Nonprofit Excellence Award, Silver Prize for Management Excellence

The Awards recognize the enormously important roles played by New York's nonprofit organizations in improving lives and communities. These Awards help nonprofit leaders improve the management of their organizations and inform all New Yorkers about management excellence in nonprofit organizations.

 

SEG Foundation Excellence in Action Award

Founded in 2000, the mission of the Select Equity Group Foundation is to make a positive impact by actively engaging all employees in identifying and supporting charitable organizations of excellence.

 

PropelNext grant by the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation

Edna McConnell Clark Foundation (EMCF) launched a new venture called PropelNext to help promising nonprofits build their capacity and ability to use data so they can more effectively improve the life prospects of young people.

 

Harlem RBI’s “The BASE” wins the World AIDS Day 2012 Commissioner’s Award from the New York State Department of Health

Beyond Sport Community Award

Harlem RBI was shortlisted out of 400 entries from more than 125 countries as an organization that successfully uses sports for education by Beyond Sport, a global organisation that promotes, develops and supports the use of sport to create positive social change across the world.

2010 AWARDS

Volunteer Consulting Group

Harlem RBI was awarded the "First Annual Brooke W. Mahoney Award for Outstanding Board Leadership" by the Volunteer Consulting Group. Harlem RBI's Board of Directors was honored for demonstrating strategic board recruitment, clear communication of expectations, successful evaluation systems, a culture of problem solving, a deep passion for the mission and mechanisms for hearing the voices of those served.

 

2009 Awards

America's Promise Alliance

Harlem RBI has been designated as a "Promise Place" by America's Promise Alliance for its committment to providing the "Five Promises". The five promises are resources youth need for success in life - caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, an effective education and opportunities to help others.

 

MetLife Afterschool Innovator Award Finalist

Harlem RBI is a finalist for the MetLife Afterschool Innovator Award for its Team Enrichment Program. There were submissions from more than 300 afterschool programs from across the country. Harlem RBI was recognized for its success in Recruiting and Retaining Older Youth in its teen programs.

 

2008 Awards

2008 New York Times Nonprofit Excellence Award for Communications

Harlem RBI received the New York Times Company Nonprofit Excellence Award for Communications. In addition to communications, the selection committee was impressed with Harlem RBI’s board governance and leadership.

 

2007 Awards

2007 Bank of America Neighborhood Builder Award

Harlem RBI was honored for its commitment to the growth and vitality of East Harlem. This award through Bank of America's Nighborhood Excellence Initiative includes a $200,000 grant as well as leadership training for Harlem RBI's staff.

 

2007 Bank of America Local Hero Award

Vincent Coleman, Harlem RBI’s Director of Baseball and Softball Programs received this award that honors five individuals annually for their commitment to their community.

 

The After School Experience 2007 Excellence Award

Rachel Cytron, Harlem RBI's Deputy Director for Programs received this award from New York 21st CCLC recognizing individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the field of out-of-school time (OST) programming.

 

Baseball America’s 2007 Youth Coach of the Year Award

Harlem RBI's Director of Baseball and Softball Programs, Vincent Coleman, received Baseball America's 2007 Youth Coach of the Year Award.

 

2007 James Patterson Pageturner Award

Harlem RBI’s REAL Kids Program once again received the James Patterson Pageturner Award which honors organizations that go to extraordinary lengths to spread the joy of books and reading across the country.

 

2006 Awards

Center for Summer Learning Excellence Award

Harlem RBI’s REAL Kids Program was named the winner of the Johns Hopkins University’s “Center for Summer Learning Excellence Award” in a competition that is national in scope.

 

New York Life Foundation’s Award Program

The Team Enrichment Program was named winner of the New York Life Foundation’s Award Program, recognizing models that prepare young people for higher education or the workplace and equip them to be responsible citizens.

 

2006 James Patterson Pageturner Award
