FIELD
OF DREAMS
On April 16, 2005, Harlem RBI brought children, families, politicians and supporters
together to celebrate the re-opening of the Harlem RBI Field of Dreams. The new
ball field has a variety of extraordinary features including an irrigation system,
brick dugouts, a batting cage, a walk of fame listing supporters of the project,
and the Success Gardens, where all Harlem RBI graduates are commemorated.
It has been a long road from those first days in 1991 when a group of East Harlem
youth played the first game on a dusty sandlot to this state of the art field.
Through it all, however, Harlem RBI has persevered - providing a place for youth
to Play, Learn, and Grow - and reminding everyone that if you believe, dreams
really do come true.
