Harlem RBI Programs have specific hallmarks critical to their
success...
- Engage youth over many years, not on a seasonal or ad-hoc
basis
- Are team-based, ensuring positive peer support
- Have low youth to adult ratios (never higher than 8:1, and
often as low as 3:1), ensuring a connection with caring, responsible role models
- Utilize professional staff and well-trained volunteers
- Establish high expectations of all participants
These Hallmarks help produce the following Outcomes
- Since 2004, 95% of Harlem RBI Seniors graduated from
high school and 93% were accepted to college.
- Harlem RBI's senior class averaged 5.9 years in Harlem RBI programs in 2007.
- 100% of Harlem RBI youth have avoided teen parenthood for three consecutive years.
Underlying all of this, is a strong and transparent Organization
- Meets all Better Business Bureau standards and is a Charity
Navigator 4-star charity
- Spends 80 cents on the dollar directly on program
services
- More than 90% privately funded
- Receives support from prominent institutional philanthropies
including Robin Hood, the Tiger Foundation and the Clark Foundation
- Has 100% board giving and 82% board attendance at quarterly
meetings
- 24,000 volunteer hours of service annually with a 60% year-to-year retention rate
- Provides technical assistance to some of New York City’s
biggest and best youth service providers including The Partnership for After-School Education (PASE) and The Sports &
Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF)
