Field of Dreams

Field of Dreams

In 1991, a group of volunteers transformed an abandoned, garbage-strewn lot into two baseball diamonds for the youth of East Harlem. The park became a hub of neighborhood activity, connecting children, families and volunteers through the power of team participation. In 2002, a proposed condominium development on the lot threatened the future the organization, but Harlem RBI reached an agreement with the City of New York and received a long-term license to rebuild and maintain Harlem RBI’s Field of Dreams.

On April 16, 2005, Harlem RBI brought children, families, politicians and supporters together to celebrate the re-opening of the Harlem RBI Field of Dreams. The ball field now has a variety of features including an irrigation system, brick dugouts, a batting cage, a walk of fame listing supporters of the project, and the Success Gardens, where Harlem RBI donors are commemorated. We welcome you to stop by and watch a game!
