CITYarts

Harlem RBI partnered with CITYarts, a 42-year-old public art organization that empowers youth to create artworks that address social issues, to create a portable mural for the Harlem RBI and the greater East Harlem community. Over the summer, CITYarts has been teaching youth in Harlem RBI’s REAL Kids Summer Program to create the mural, which will be used to decorate Harlem RBI’s Field of Dreams on East 100th Street, East Harlem.

CITYarts Executive & Artistic Director Tsipi Ben-Haim stresses that the goal of the project is “not only the completed artwork but, more importantly, the journey of discovery that the creative process takes the children through, a constant reminder of their contribution to the community.”

“This artistic process is about engaging every child to believe they can do anything, to discover their individual potential and express themselves” CITYarts artist Maria Berrio remarked. The project, entitled Windows to the Future,The mural was unveiled on Wednesday, August 11, at the REAL Kids Summer Exhibition Day, which showcases the work youth have created over the summer. inspires youth by encouraging them to visualize their dreams and future aspirations – a familiar theme for both CITYarts and Harlem RBI.
